Muslim Taxi Driver Charged with Rape

A TAXI driver has been charged with raping a 25-year-old woman.

Husseyin Aydin, 46, is alleged to have raped the woman after picking her up in the John O'Gaunt area of the city on February 21.

Aydin, of Easington, Lancaster, was arrested in Penny Street on February 22.

He will appear before Lancaster magistrates on Tuesday charged with two counts of rape.

Aydin's taxi licence was revoked on April 2.

In a completely unrelated incident, another Muslim taxi driver denies sexual assault:

A TAXI driver has pleaded not guilty at St Helens Magistrates’ Court to sexually assaulting a woman.

Muzaffar Nazish (43), from Alpine Close in Old Eccleston, denied the charge of the alleged indecent assault on Forshaw Avenue, Thatto Heath on Sunday, June 28.

He was remanded on bail under the conditions that he must not drive any vehicle displaying a taxi plate or marked as a black cab.

Nazish is due to appear back at St Helens Magistrates Court on Thursday, September 24.
