A man has been stabbed in what police say was an unprovoked attack in a Manchester park. The 18-year-old was in Crowcroft Park, Longsight, on Thursday night with two friends when five men approached them and an argument broke out.
The victim was stabbed by one of the men, before they ran off.
He was taken to hospital and underwent emergency surgery for a stab wound to his stomach. He is in a serious but stable condition.
Det Con Tony Smith, of Greater Manchester Police, said: "This was a terrifying and unprovoked attack on a teenager, who was simply taking a short cut with his mates.
"It was still daylight and it is possible there were people around."
The attackers were all Asian men in their early to mid 20s. They ran off towards the exit from the park at the junction of East Road and Northmoor Road.
The attack happened at about 2100 BST.
