Second Gang-Rape in a London Park

The London Borough of Barnet has seen two gang-rapes in two separate parks within a few weeks of each other:

A 14-year-old girl was raped in a Golders Green park on Sunday night.

Police forensics experts are scouring areas of Basing Hill Park, in Wayside.

Barnet Police's Sapphire unit, which deals with sexual offences, is investigating the incident and police confirmed the teenager has been interviewed.

Anyone with information on the incident can telephone the Sapphire team on 020 8733 5066 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

The incident follows a rape in another of the borough's parks last month.

Two men attacked a 22-year-old in Sunny Hill Park, Hendon, on Friday, June 19, leading to police stepping up patrols in the park. They also urged women to avoid poorly-lit and secluded areas when walking alone in the area.

Why don't the London Police encourage women to carry a small handgun with them when and if they choose to walk alone at night?

That is what our local police chief advises the fine ladies of our little town...
