Baby P's Killer Bids to Become a Muslim

The 32 year old who tortured the child known as 'Baby P' to death (along with his own mother) was also convicted of raping a 2 year old girl.

He now languishes at taxpayers' expense in HMP Belmarsh, Britain's most secure prison, serving ten years for his involvement in Baby P's death and life for the rape of the toddler.

Prison sources say that he is only interested in watching television, has a cell described as 'cushy', and is understandably seen as the lowest there is even by Britain's most dangerous and notorious criminals.

Some interesting news emerged today, however - this sub-human has approached the prison imam with a view to converting to Islam:

The stepdad of tragic Baby P is trying to become a Muslim.

The fiend, 32, approached the prison imam but Islamic inmates blocked the move.

A source at Wakefield jail, West Yorks, said: "He knows he's a marked man and this was his attempt at getting in with a large group, but no one wants to be seen with someone who's committed such heinous crimes."

The beast was jailed for life last month for raping a girl of two and causing or allowing the death of 17-month-old Baby P in Haringey, North London. The People has told of a £10,000 lags' plot to maim him. The insider added: "He's shown no remorse. All he cares about is watching the telly and getting his dinner. Everyone in here thinks he's the lowest of the low. "

What is interesting here is that the Muslim element in this prison is seen to have such power and influence.

Very, very disturbing on many levels.

Attempted 'Honour' Killing in Scotland

A very disturbing case which occurred in Balloch, Scotland. The crazed criminal only got seven and a half years in jail for this brutal attack:

A BALLOCH woman was knifed repeatedly by a man she met through an arranged marriage website.

The woman’s family were also threatened by crazed Yasir Afsar as he burst into their home.

The High Court in Edinburgh last week heard how Afsar went berserk in the Balloch house after the relationship with his intended bride broke down.

He turned up on the woman’s doorstep at 6.30am, forcing his way into the family home by claiming he was a business colleague of their daughter.

Asfar, 32, from the Midlands, had felt that the mum and dad would never approve of him as he was of a ‘lower caste’.

But he couldn’t accept the affair was over, according to defence advocate Shahid Latif.

Mr Latif explained: “The relationship developed to such an extent that a love marriage as opposed to an arranged marriage was in contemplation.”

Advocate depute Keith Stewart, prosecuting, said, that when Afsar turned up at the family home, they said she was not in and he pointed to her car, saying ‘I’m going to see her’, pushing his way into the house.

The terrified victim locked herself in the bathroom as Afsar tried to force it open with a kitchen knife.

The court was told how he also threatened to kill her parents if she didn’t come out.

After a struggle, the woman’s father went downstairs to telephone police and her mum persuaded Afsar to come downstairs to talk.

The daughter left the bathroom, heading for her bedroom to telephone police but Afsar heard her, followed her into the room and pinned her down on her bed.

Mr Stewart continued: “He began to strike her repeatedly on the chest with the knife. He then placed his hands round her neck.”

The court was told how the mum bit Afsar on the arm then, fearing her daughter was dead, ran outside to shout for help from neighbours.

Afsar drove away – leaving his DNA on the handle of the broken and blood-stained knife. He was arrested three days later in Dover.

The terrified victim was rushed to Paisley’s Royal Alexandra Hospital where doctors found that two stab wounds to her chest had caused both lungs to collapse.

Mr Stewart said: “The medical view is that both chest wounds were serious and potentially life-threatening.”

In court, Afsar admitted attempted murder, and apologised for what he had done.

Sentencing Afsar to seven and a half years, judge Lord Brodie told him: “What you have pleaded guilty to is the attempted murder of a young woman who – according to Mr Latif – at one stage you loved.”

Government Sends out 2,000 Fake CVs to Catch 'Racist' Companies

With the country still potentially facing total economic meltdown, an unprecedented leap in violent crime of all kinds and a complete failure to control the borders, plus its worst election performance since records began, you would imagine that the government here in Britain had a lot to worry about.

Apparently, you would be wrong.

This is what passes for constructive use of civil servants' time and taxpayers money:

Ministers were embroiled in a row last night over an extraordinary covert operation to expose racist businesses.

Civil servants have fabricated more than 2,000 job applications and concocted hundreds of false names to try to catch out bigoted managers.

Work and Pensions Secretary Yvette Cooper’s department has secretly applied for 1,000 separate jobs with made-up CVs.

The bizarre operation – condemned as ‘unethical and underhand’ by business leaders – is designed to reveal whether employers turn down applicants simply because of their names.

It could lead to a law banning firms from asking for job applicants’ names until the interview stage, amid claims that such a measure will also help women combat sexism.

A DWP spokesman said the department had responded to 1,000 job vacancies using false identities but with very similar CVs to see if a person’s name was a factor in whether they were given an interview. ‘The names are made up,’ she said.

Typically, officials put in two or three applications per job, with one under a traditional Anglo-Saxon name and others using an ethnic minority-sounding name, The Mail on Sunday understands.

Applications under women’s names were also submitted to ‘keep it realistic’, the spokesman said.

‘We can’t tell you what jobs, what companies, which sectors have been involved. There were 1,000 jobs involved. If someone gets an interview call, it goes through to a mobile phone number which politely declines an interview.’

The research is due to be published later this summer but Vera Baird, the Solicitor General, last week revealed the initial findings. ‘There was quite a strong sense that there is race discrimination going on,’ she said.

‘If you call yourself Patel, as opposed to Smith, then you get less opportunity.’

Ms Baird, now piloting Deputy Labour Leader Harriet Harman’s Equality Bill through the Commons, confirmed the no-names job application rule could be added to the Bill. ‘It could theoretically help, particularly young women. It might help because we are sure there’s a lot of pregnancy discrimination,’ she said.

However, the project was condemned by business leaders.

Gareth Elliott, of the British Chambers of Commerce, said it had strongly advised against the research because it was ‘unethical and a complete waste of time’.

‘We are completely shocked to hear the DWP has gone ahead. Businesses have enough on their plate without having to deal with the underhand tactics of the DWP.’

Theresa May, the Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary, also criticised the operation as a ‘waste of taxpayers’ cash’. She backed moves to clamp down on discrimination but said the idea of banning bosses from initially requiring the names of job applicants was ‘unworkable’.

Challenged to justify the ethics of the operation, Ms Baird said: ‘Well, I don’t know because I wasn’t party to that research. I’ve only discovered it since I have been responsible for the [Equality] Bill. It’s a piece of legitimate research, isn’t it?’

The DWP said it was ‘right to find out if there was an issue regarding people being discriminated against because of their ethnicity when applying for jobs’.

Employers’ organisation the CBI called the proposals ‘unrealistic’. ‘Job applicants are already protected from discrimination when going through the recruitment process and can take legal action if treated differently,’ it said.

It's an old cliche - but the lunatics really are running the asylum.

The frightening thing is that even when caught out and challenged about this, the government simply insists it knows best and is doing us all a huge favour.

Employers should be able to employ whoever they like, without interference from the state. If one recruitment policy is inferior to another for whatever reason, then presumably economic performance and potential for company growth and success will reflect that.

God help us all.

Osama bin Laden Look-Alike Policeman Awarded £11,000

In many lawsuits for sexual, racial or religious discrimination in the workplace, it emerges that the plaintiff is not squeaky clean; often they will have earned the enmity of their colleagues for reasons other than those stated, but cried foul in an attempt to earn easy money.

On Wednesday I reported on the case of a policeman in the West Midlands who claimed colleagues made fun of his beard and claimed he looked like Osama bin Laden.

Today, he was awarded £11,000 in damages by the West Midlands Police:

PC Tariq Dost, of Small Heath, said the comments made by his former line manager Darren Yates left him feeling hurt, humiliated and depressed.

An employment tribunal upheld PC Dost’s allegations that he had been treated with religious and racial discrimination and awarded the figure of £11,000 based on a psychiatric report measuring the scale of his hurt. Employment judge Hughes said: “The remarks made were offensive and more so because PC Dost is a very religious man.”

This case and its conclusion is a tragic indictment of our society. But then, so was the fact Dost ever became a police officer in the first place.

He clearly wasn't a police officer who happened to be a Muslim. He was a Muslim who happened to be a police officer in Britain.

Dost's role (before he was sacked from it) was as a 'positive action officer, where he mentored ethnic minorities and women to apply to the police force'.

Presumably to ensure that the colour of one's skin matters more than their competence, ability and qualifications - and to ensure a wealth of race discrimination claims for the future, as many will be promoted above their ability simply because of their name, religion or race.

This is the country we now live in.

The worst part is that Dost is in no way a victim - he is simply an unpleasant oik. He was disciplined himself for making sexual remarks to female officers and staff:

A Muslim police officer, who claims a boss compared him to Osama Bin Laden, was fined for boasting about his sexual performance and use of Viagra, it emerged yesterday.

An employment tribunal heard how Pc Tariq Dost, 40, from Birmingham, who is claiming racial and religious discrimination against West Midlands Police, was fined 13 days’ pay and “came close to dismissal” over the incident.

Pc Dost was disciplined in October last year for discussing the sex drug with colleagues and telling one “she won’t be able to walk when you’re finished with her”.

He also admitted failing to act with respect towards a fellow officer after an incident in which he allegedly accused another Pc of planting drugs on a suspect.

The recruitment officer was also given managerial advice over his attitude to women, after allegedly discussing the size of a potential recruit’s breasts.

Detective Superintendent Piers Westlake, the acting head of disciplinary issues at West Midlands Police, said he regarded the complaints against Pc Dost as “very serious”.

“Pc Dost was a positive action officer,” he told the tribunal.

“His job was to mentor people to apply to the police force with particular focus on ethnic minorities and women.

“I was concerned about his credibility and, in particular, his attitude towards women.

“He seemed to be treating women with contempt, and his conduct warranted a disciplinary hearing.

“A 13-day fine is effectively a disciplinary panel saying you came as close to dismissal as possible.”

Pc Dost claims he has been racially discriminated against and says he feels “betrayed” by West Midlands Police.

He complained in November 2007 that the force’s acting recruitment marketing manager, Darren Yates, made racist remarks towards him.

He claims that Mr Yates compared his beard to Osama Bin Laden’s and referred to Muslim prayers as “shouting and wailing”.

Pc Dost also said Mr Yates laughed at the Islamic robes he wore to an event and told him: “You look like a terrorist.”

Mr Yates was removed from his acting position as marketing manager following the incident.

Ah. So it is OK for Dost to have no respect for women, to the point of humiliating them, or the culture of the country in which he has chosen to work - but of course, everyone must have respect for him and his traditions to the point of deference.

Dost even had the audacity to complain his punishment for the sexual remarks was worse that Yates; - even though he was a serving police officer and Yates was just civilian staff.

It seems Dost just wants 'positive action' for Muslims, however - and with the absurd ruling and payment, he is a step closer.

Prolific Somali Criminal 'Cannot Be Deported' - Released Instead

A fascinating article demonstrates just how completely this country has lost control of its borders.

Note the very bottom line, which estimates that the number of Somalis in Britain may be between double or five times the official figure. Seeing as Somalis are generally the worst immigrant group in terms of criminality, welfare dependency and lack of willingness or ability to integrate, you would think that was worth looking into.

The country's shambolic immigration laws were under the spotlight yesterday after the High Court ordered the release of a prolific criminal who has been fighting deportation for three years.

A judge ruled that the 'undesirable' immigrant, who 'embarked on a criminal career' in the UK and still poses a threat of further offending, must be freed from detention.

The High Court was told Ahmed Daq, 32, must be released on bail because the Home Office has already held him for three years to facilitate his removal from the UK but there is still no prospect of deportation.

A judge ruled: 'Removal is not going to be possible within a reasonable time. Therefore his detention has become unlawful.'

Daq, an alcoholic and drug addict, committed 18 offences between 1998 and 2004, using 13 aliases. They included robbery, assault and burglary.

He was due to be released in June 2006 but was immediately served with a further notice of intention to deport, and detained pending removal.

He had been in custody ever since, challenging moves to deport him to Somalia in the Court of Appeal.

Over the past three years, he has been repeatedly in trouble for violent outbursts against other inmates, and detectives fear he will be a menace on the streets.

His latest appeal hearing has been delayed as the legal debate continues over whether it is safe to return criminals and failed asylum seekers to the violent and war-torn east African state.

Deputy High Court judge John Howell QC, sitting in London, observed: 'This case is a sad reminder of the continuing difficulties in securing the removal of foreign nationals who commit criminal offences in this country which make their continued presence here undesirable.'

He granted Daq bail 'subject to stringent conditions' to guard against the risk of him reoffending or absconding.

He observed: 'There is plainly the risk of him reoffending, but the type of offence he may commit is not in my judgment of the most grave kind, though serious they undoubtedly are.'

The judge described how Daq arrived in the UK in 1997 and claimed asylum as a Somali national who feared for his life in his home country. The judge said the possibility of his having Kenyan connections was now also being explored.

Daq was granted exceptional leave to remain for one year and then applied for an extension, but no decision was made on that application.

The judge said: 'Meanwhile he embarked on a criminal career in this country.' The offences included robbery, theft, two assaults causing actual bodily harm, possession of an offensive weapon - an axe - using threatening words and behaviour, and seven burglaries.

One burglary was committed after he had been served with a notice of deportation in 2004, for which he received a two-and-a-half year sentence.

The judge observed: 'There is plainly the risk of him reoffending, but the type of offence he may commit is not in my judgment of the most grave kind, though serious they undoubtedly are.'

Daq has been held in Bedford Prison following alleged incidents of aggressive and abusive behaviour, including attacks on other inmates, in immigration detention centres.

Amanda Weston, appearing for Daq, said he was suffering from depression and self-harming because of his lengthy detention, and that three years in custody for the purpose of deporting was 'beyond the outer limits' allowed by the law.

She said his offending was linked to his drug and alcohol addiction, but he was no longer addicted and no longer posed a threat.

He now had a young son, currently being looked after by an aunt, who had become a strong incentive for him to stay off drugs.

The 2001 census suggested there were 43,000 Somalis in the UK, but experts suggest the figure is at least 95,000 and possibly 250,000.

How Christians Are Treated in Pakistan

Recently two very disturbing cases have emerged from Pakistan which give some insight into the risks which non-Muslims face in Muslim countries, particularly if they fail to pay the jizya.

The first concerns a Christian man who was sexually abused, raped and murdered for refusing to convert to Islam:

A young Christian man was raped and brutally murdered in Pakistan for refusing to convert to Islam, and police are doing nothing about it, the victim's brother and minister told FOXNews.com.

Pakistani police reportedly found the body of Tariq "Litto" Mashi Ghauri — a 28-year-old university student in Sargodha, Pakistan — lying dead in a canal outside a rural village in Punjab Province on May 15. He had been raped and stabbed at least five times.

"They have sexually abuse him, torture him with a knife on his testicle and genitals," Ghauri's brother, 24-year-old Salman Nabil Ghauri, said. "They have tortured him very badly, and after that they have stabbed five times with a knife and killed him."

The family believes Litto Ghauri was murdered by the brothers of his Muslim girlfriend, Shazi Cheema, after they found him in a compromising sexual position with their sister.

The Rev. Haroon Bhatti, a Christian clergyman in the village and a friend of the Ghauri family, said Cheema's three brothers came to Litto Ghauri's house on May 11 and gave him an ultimatum: Marry their sister and convert to Islam.

Ghauri agreed to the marriage but refused to accept Islam, and the brothers kidnapped him at gunpoint and drove him to a remote farmhouse, where they tortured and murdered him, the minister said.

After police discovered the body, Ghauri's death was declared a homicide and the family filed paperwork with the Atta Shaheed police station in their small village, Adda 44SB. But Ghauri's brother said police still have not arrested the alleged killers and have refused to meet with his family.

"They don't want to meet us, and the three of them who are murderers are outside," Salman Nabil Ghauri told FOXNews.com. "They are free. Nothing is happening to them. No investigation is running."

We then get a stunning glimpse into the gaping chasm between Islamic truth and actual truth:

One Pakistani embassy official questioned the truth of the report.

"On the face of it, this appears to be exaggerated," said the Pakistani official who asked not to be named. "This does not happen over there."

The official said that minorities are very well represented in the Pakistani Parliament, and if someone in fact were murdered for not converting to Islam, "it would have been reported hugely."

The embassy official added, "if an incident of that nature happened over there, there would have to be an investigation."

Yet human rights watchdog groups say that what happened to Litto Ghauri is not uncommon because Christians in Pakistan are looked upon as the dregs of society. Pakistan's population is 97 percent Muslim, and Christians are only a very small part of the remaining 3 percent.

"What the Muslim society has done in Pakistan is just associate low caste with being Christian," said Jeremy Sewall, Advocacy Director of the International Christian Concern, which first reported the killing. "Many of these people, they clean human waste and that's their job, and that's what Christians are known for in Pakistan."

The Rev. Bhatti says that radical Muslims frequently try to trap Christian men into converting to Islam by using a woman as bait — and Ghauri suspects the involvement of his dead brother's girlfriend in trying to entrap him.

"It's common to offer things — money, women — to Christians to convert," Bhatti said.

Pakistan is one of the most hostile countries in the world for minority religions. The country still has blasphemy laws on the books that forbid saying or writing anything against Islam or the Koran. Punishment can include death.

The second case involves the police torturing a Christian man and then denying him medical treatment:

A 37-year-old Christian is languishing in a Sialkot jail after police broke his backbone because his father was preaching Christ, according to a local advocacy group.

Arshad Masih had been in a hospital – chained to his bed on false robbery charges – after police torture that began Dec. 28, 2008 left him incapacitated. He was discharged from General Hospital in Lahore on Saturday (June 20) and returned to jail despite efforts by the Community Development Initiative (CDI), a support group that is providing Masih legal assistance.

CDI Research Officer Napoleon Qayyum said that hospital personnel treated Masih callously, but that conditions there were better than in the jail in Sialkot. At least in the hospital, Qayyum said, Masih’s gray-haired father was able to carry him on his shoulders when he needed to go to the bathroom.

Hospital staff members released Masih even though they knew he would not receive the medical care he needs in jail and could face further abuse, the CDI researcher said.

“We told the hospital administration and doctors that Masih would be released from jail within a few days, so he should not be discharged from the hospital as he would not be taken care of in jail, but they paid no heed to our request,” Qayyum said.

He said Sialkot police gave assurances that Masih would be released from jail if he arrived there from the hospital by 10 p.m. A police van left early Saturday morning from Sialkot to bring Masih from the hospital in Lahore to Sialkot jail, but it did not reach the hospital until 6 p.m. even though it is only 100 kilometers (62 miles) from Sialkot to Lahore.

Qayyum said officers also invented delays on the return trip.

“Despite our requests to the police van staff, they reached the jail at 10:30 p.m.,” Qayyum said. “The Sialkot police used the delays to demoralize us by creating problems so that we do not file a petition for torturing.”

The CDI official said the group’s first priority is to “take him out of Sialkot so that police may not further create problems for him.”

Hajipura police detained Masih on Dec. 28 on orders from the Sadar police station in Gujranwala, where Masih’s father, Iqbal Masih, had been preaching Christ.

The elder Masih, an itinerant preacher who has traveled to remote areas to proclaim Christ for three decades, told Compass that objections to his ministry led to false accusations of robbery against his son. Area Muslims resented his preaching and his visits to a Christian family in Gujranwala, he said, and told him to stop visiting the family.

“They told me that I was preaching a false religion and should stop doing it, and that I should succumb to their pressure,” the elder Masih told Compass.

Area Muslims had complained to Gujranwala police of the elder Masih’s efforts, and officers there first sought to arrest him in a case filed against “unidentified people,” he said. Later, he said, Gujranwala police told Hajipura police to charge his son in some robbery cases, as Arshad Masih lived in the Hajipura precincts.

When police arrested Arshad Masih on Dec. 28, they tortured him for several days, the younger Masih said.

“They hung me upside down all night, beat me and used all inhumane torture methods, leaving me permanently paralyzed,” he said.

Police falsely named him in a robbery case, according to CDI. All others named in the case were released after paying bribes, advocacy group officials said. Police officers also asked Masih’s father for a bribe of 50,000 rupees [US$620], the elder Masih said.

“They asked me as well for 50,000 rupees, but I refused to pay on the grounds that it was illegal and additionally I hadn’t that much money,” Iqbal Masih said.

The complainant in the robbery case eventually testified that Arshad Masih hadn’t been among the robbers, and he was granted bail. Before court orders reached the jail, however, Sialkot police informed Sadar police officers in Gujranwala, who arrived at the jail and had Masih remanded to them for a robbery case filed against “unidentified people.”

“Because of that, Masih could not be freed for one moment,” CDI’s Qayyum said.

Gujranwala police also threatened to kill Masih in a staged police encounter if he told the court that he had been tortured, according to CDI. They also warned him that he should not act as if he were in any pain in court.

Turk Receives Life Sentence for Killing Italian

A very unusual case from Turkey:

ANKARA, JUNE 25 - A criminal court in Turkey gave sentenced to life in prison a man who was found guilty of raping and killing an Italian performance artist, Anatolia news agency reports. The Italian artist, Pippa Bacca, was found dead on April 11, 2008 after being raped and then killed by Murat Karatash, a Turkish truck driver. Bacca departed from Milan in March 2008 together with a fellow artist Silvia Moro on a "Brides on Tour" journey, with both wearing bridal gowns and hitchhiking from Italy through southern Europe and the Middle East, with the intention of meeting up together at the end in Jerusalem.

Teenage Girl Killed by Her Father in Germany

A 45 year old Turkish man has been arrested in Schweinfurt after stabbing his 15 year old daughter to death.

A Turkish dad stabbed his own 15-year-old daughter to death in an honour killing which has shocked Germany.

Mehmet Ö. (45) sneaked into Bürsa’s bedroom at 3.30am and repeatedly struck the helpless teen with a knife.

Her grandparents called an ambulance but medics could not do anything for Buersa as she bled to death.

The kebab shop owner fled the crime scene in the town of Schweinfurt but was later arrested by a police patrol in the town centre after a judge issued a warrant.

Police spokeswoman Kathrin Reinhardt said: “He confessed in a hearing to the Criminal Investigation Department.”

As a motive behind the crime, she said: “Both had very dissimilar life outlooks which kept leading to differences between them.”

Bürsa wore a head scarf but she did not want her strict Muslim father to control her life.

Friends described how the western lifestyle of his daughter made Mehmet Ö angry.

Metush H., a friend of the family, said that Bürsa’s sister and mum also had to always wear a headscarf.

Yesterday at her school, the Olympia-Morata-Gymnasium, her classmates gathered in the library to pay tribute to her.

A tearful friend told BILD: “She was a fun-loving girl, loved hip hop music. But that is no reason to kill someone!”

Bürsa, at just 15, joins Gülsüm († 20), Hatun († 23) and Morsal († 16) on the long list of honour killing victims in Germany.

Dhimmitude in Germany

The conclusion of the German Islam Conference saw several attempts to bow to Muslim demands on 'sensitive issues', particularly in matters relating to education. This flagrant kow-towing is described by Reuters as 'an increasingly open and rational debate about Islam'.

Here is the kind of rationality we are speaking of:

The German government and representatives of the country’s large Muslim community said on Thursday they had agreed a number of practical proposals to resolve conflicts between German schools and Muslim practises.

Some 36 percent of Germany’s Muslims described themselves as strongly religious and 50 percent as moderately religious.

The DIK was set up to try to help Europe’s second biggest Muslim population after France integrate into mainstream Germany society, amid worries about the potential radicalisation of disillusioned young Muslims.

Proposals touched on sensitive issues such as Muslim pupils’ participation in sports and sexual education classes to religious holidays.

Delegates at the conference agreed that schools should try to offer separate swimming lessons to girls and boys and to ensure there are separate changing rooms to enable the participation of all Muslim pupils.

Given that legal school holidays in Germany are based on Christian customs, practical consideration should be given to Islamic religious holidays.

“Schools should take these holidays into account when fixing its calendar for the school year. This affects in particular the dates chosen for exams,” the DIK said.

Ramadan, the Muslim month of fasting and religious reflection, should be taken into account in particular when planning school trips, internships or school parties.

Regarding sexual education classes, these were necessary and compulsory, but schools should let parents know in advance how and what they planned to teach.

“In the class itself, teachers should be sensitive in their choice of words and carefully select the media, that they show with caution,” the DIK said.

Tips were not only reserved for schools, however. The conference suggested that parents should make sure their children got enough sleep during Ramadan and that, if their daughters wore a headscarf, they should take care it did not lead to ostracism.

Germany seems to be treading a careful path in order to avoid the kinds of conflicts with its Muslim community that other countries have incurred, such as France which provoked controversy in 2004 by banning pupils from wearing conspicuous signs of their religion at school, including headscarves.

But will its tentative proposals be heeded without any kind of legal enforcement?

The answer is, fortunately, probably not - in Germany the federal government has no control over education and the 16 states are pretty much given a free reign to set their own curriculum.

The fact that a conference such as this must be held is worrying in itself - but it is more worrying to think that no one in the German government (the allegedly conservative Merkel being in control) has the courage to say 'no special demands from Muslims will be met'.

Law Firm Manager Enabled Huge Immigration Fraud

A law firm manager was at the heart of a lucrative plot to con the Home Office into allowing 'hundreds' of foreign nationals to settle in Britain, a court heard today.

The alleged scam involved large numbers of forged documents pretending applicants were entitled to indefinite leave to remain.

They suggested all of them had satisfied the so-called '14-year or longer residence rule'.

In reality, many had arrived in the country comparatively recently, claimed prosecutor Christopher Amor.

The barrister told London's Southwark Crown Court that Francis Enaharo, 51, was 'at the centre' of the conspiracy.

He claimed that, as manager of the south-east London practice Macauley Blackman Solicitors, Enaharo was able to put his clients in touch with the forgers.

'Once the documents were obtained, he acted on behalf of those clients in arranging the subsequent fraudulent applications,' Mr Amor told the court.

He said it was part of the Crown's case one of the forgers was 50-year-old Grace O'Connor.

'Documents created by her have been used in large numbers of fraudulent applications for indefinite leave to remain.'

Also in the dock was Olumuyiwa Akinrin, 45.

Mr Amor said he, too, provided fake paperwork, although it was 'not clear whether he was acting as a middleman'.

He added: 'However, Enaharo provided his clients with contact details for Akinrin, who in turn arranged the production and supply of the documents.

'In addition to undermine the system of immigration regulation, the defendants also benefited financially from the conspiracy.

'They were able to charge the applicants both for the forged documents and for the submission of the applications themselves.

'The number of fraudulent applications emanating from this one office runs into the hundreds.'

Enaharo, of Capston Mews, Gravesend, Kent; O'Connor, of Codrington Hill, Lewisham, south-east London; and Akinrin, of Chabot Drive, Southwark, south-east London, all deny one count of conspiring with other to 'assist unlawful immigration to a member state' on or before May 14, 2008.

The court heard current law allows a person to apply for indefinite leave to remain if they can prove they have been in Britain 10 years lawfully or 14 years unlawfully.

Applications have to be supported by proof of residency using so-called residency documents such as utility bills, bank and mortgage statements, tenancy agreements, healthcare records, and medical cards.

Mr Amor said that, to begin with, fake applications were made by Total Legal Services. But after September 2006 that changed to Macauley Blackman when the law firm took over the immigration advice operation.

Enaharo, who had been practice manger for both, 'ran the office on a day to day basis, took responsibility for initial contacts with clients of the firm, and became the key figure in the conspiracy'.

The barrister said the plot was exposed when police searched the offices of O'Connor's secretarial service firm in connection with an entirely separate mortgage fraud probe.

Among documents seized was a large quantity of paperwork that could have been used to support applications to remain, counsel claimed.

Closer examination discovered many of the gas bills found contained the same error - 'cobic feet' instead of cubic. Further tell-tale mistakes were discovered in other fake documents, including Sky television bills.

Mr Amor told jurors what appeared to be a price list for specific documents was also recovered.

He claimed the evidence suggested O'Connor not only knew Enaharo but, like him, had also worked for the immigration advice firm.

'In the light of this, her claim she had no idea her forgeries would be used support fraudulent immigration applications appears extremely dubious.'

Jurors heard an undercover officer, posing as an illegal immigrant from Ghana hoping to settle in Britain, subsequently made an appointment with Macauley Blackman.

After explaining he did not meet the legal requirements, he was allegedly told he would be introduced to someone who could arrange the necessary paperwork for £960.

It was claimed the secretly taped conversation heard Enaharo assure the officer his contacts could easily provide 'any document you want...to support your application'.

However, when the officer met Akinrin he was informed it would actually cost him £1,200.

He was told: 'What you are getting is documents to say you've been here for 14 years.'
In the event he was handed a bundle of documentation including an NHS card, utility bills, a bank statement, payslips, P60s, hospital letters and business administration diploma.

When Akinrin's home was eventually searched, allegedly bogus paperwork was found, while more incriminating material recovered from his car linked him to Enaharo.

Some 500 client files were also seized from the law firm, with the 'vast majority' apparently containing forged documents supporting leave to remain applications, with 'suggesting' a connection with O'Connor.

Jihadis Ponder the Merits of Cannibalism

MEMRI reports that a thread was intercepted on a known Jihadi forum discussing if, and under what conditions, it is acceptable to eat the flesh of dead American soldiers and other slain infidels:

A recent thread on the Al-Falluja jihadist forum discussed the case of whether a Muslim who has nothing else to eat may kill an infidel in order to eat him. The discussion was prompted by a recently published book by Abu Muhammad Al-Maqdisi, one of the most influential jihadist sheikhs active today.

On June 13, 2009, a member of the Al-Falluja forum who uses the moniker "Al-Maqdisi's Student" wrote a post based on this passage [in full report] titled "Is it permitted to eat the flesh of American soldiers? A quote from the illustrious Sheikh Al-Maqdisi, may Allah preserve him." He began by recounting an exchange between the early Muslim commander Khalid b. Al-Walid and the Byzantine commander at the battle of Yarmuk (in the year 636 C.E.) The Byzantine commander said to Khalid that the Muslims had only gone out from their land due to hunger, and offered to buy them off. Khalid responded: "It was not hunger that drove us out of our land, as you say; we are a people who drink blood, and we know that there is no blood more delicious than Byzantine blood. That is why we came."

"Al-Maqdisi's Student" then cites the aforementioned passage from Al-Maqdisi's Beginner's Guide [in full report], and follows up with the words: "The mujahideen should inform their belligerent [infidel] and apostate enemies of this exceptional law so that they can bring it up and study it at their conferences on human rights, counterterrorism, and so on! Then they in turn can proclaim that our soldiers lick their lips [at the thought of] eating the flesh of their hamburger- and Pepsi-eating soldiers!"

"If We... Eat Americans, Let's Make Them Into A Gunpowder-Flavored Kabsa With Some Hors D'oeuvres Made Of Apostates"

Most of the numerous responses to the post were off-topic. Some responses, however, did take up the flesh-eating issue. "Abu Hajir Al-Muqrin" wrote: "If we are forced to eat Americans, let's make them into a gunpowder-flavored kabsa with some hors d'oeuvres made of apostates."

"Muhammad Al-Baghdadi" wrote: "But the slaughtering needs to be according to the shari'a. He then wrote "perhaps this is the best way" above stills from the Nick Berg decapitation video.

"Al-Maqdisi's Student" weighed in again towards the end of the thread and wrote: "A true story: a group of mujahideen from one of the brigades was in the mountains during the jihad against the Russians. One of them was sent off on a mission; he went and came back, but he couldn't find any of the brothers. He saw a roasted calf leg that the brothers in the brigade left for him for dinner, and he ate of it until he was full. When he went back to the main camp, the brothers saw him and offered him dinner! He said: praise Allah, I already ate! They said: Where did you find dinner? He said: You left me roasted calf leg! They said: No, no, that wasn't calf, that was the leg of a Russian infidel! He answered: No matter, it's all Islamic slaughter! (smile)

Germany's Muslim Population Larger Than Thought

New figures gathered as part of drive by the German government to 'increase dialogue with Muslims'.

According to the latest figures, Germany's Muslim community numbers close to 4 million people, or about 5 percent of the entire population. Past estimates put the number of Muslims in the country at 3.1 to 3.4 million.

Additionally, the survey funded by the Interior Ministry found that Germany's Muslim community is very diverse.

To get a better sense of the views and customs of German Muslims, researchers phoned 6,000 households with 17,000 residents. The pollsters asked a variety of questions, such as whether the family ate pork or drank alcohol.

Researchers found that 91 percent of Sunnis said they followed Islamic food and drink practices. For Shiites, the rate was 60 percent and for Alawites the rate was 49 percent.

A third of respondents described themselves as "strongly religious," while half said they were "relatively religious." Respondents from Turkey and Africa most readily described themselves as devout.

The majority (63.2 percent, 2.7 million people) of German Muslims are of Turkish origin, followed by Muslims from Southeastern Europe (13.6 percent), the Middle East (8 percent) and Northern Africa (7 percent).

The German government funded the survey after complaints that there was no reliable information on the Islamic population or their views.

It was completed ahead of the last planned session of the German Islamic Conference (DIK) - a series of meetings between government and Muslim representatives that began in 2006 when officials became concerned about home-grown terrorism. However, it soon became clear that Germany's Muslims had other concerns they felt were not being addressed.

On the subject of religious education, the survey found that Muslim parents were bothered by the fact that while Christian children received religious education classes, religion teachers for Muslim children were rare. Fully 75 percent of those polled said that all Muslim pupils should be offered classes on Islam.

The survey also found that some parents objected to their daughters being compelled to wear bathing suits for school swimming classes or to sleep in co-ed dormitories.

Access to well-paid jobs remains a problem for Muslims in Germany, researchers found, especially since many Muslim students leave school before receiving their qualification.

Forty five per cent of all Muslims in Germany were born abroad.

Plan for Attack on Norwegian & Swedish Embassies Foiled in Pakistan

A man carrying two tonnes of explosives has been arrested in the Pakistani capital Islamabad.

Police report that he intended to attack the Norwegian and Swedish embassies because both countries have a presence in Afghanistan.

Initial reports suggest that he may have planned to attack various other European and Western embassies.

I suppose this report is telling, because the Pakistani government has finally recognised that terrorism is a greater existential threat to them than neighbouring India.

Many ordinary Pakistanis are beginning to turn against the terrorists too; The Times reported yesterday that a Taliban commander was shot dead and several of his men burned to death when terrorists killed a number of people in a mosque bombing - then demanded the widows they had just made for 'marriage'.

It was the Taleban’s demand to take the women they had widowed that was the last straw for the residents of Upper Dir.

When the militants arrived in their mountainous corner of northwestern Pakistan in February the locals cautiously welcomed them, thinking they were waging jihad against foreign troops in neighbouring Afghanistan.

Some even joined them, attracted by the five or six pounds a day they paid. Over the next three months, however, Upper Dir’s residents were increasingly angered by the Taleban’s criminal activities and disrespect for local customs, according to residents and Pakistani officials.

In early June elders asked them to leave the five villages they had occupied. The Taleban responded on June 5 with a suicide attack on a local mosque that killed 39 people. The next day they told the elders to give them the women who had been widowed in the attack.

Instead, the elders summoned men from 30 surrounding villages, told them to fetch their weapons (many men in the region own a gun), and launched a “lashkar” — or tribal militia — of more than 1,000 people to drive out the Taleban.

They shot dead the local Taleban leader — who went by the name of Champo — burnt several more to death in the houses that they had occupied, and surrounded the remaining 150 in a mountainside village, where they were still under siege yesterday.

“Don’t call them Taleban because they are gangsters, looters and plunderers,” Omar Rehman, 35, a farmer and member of the lashkar, told The Times.

“The Taleban should be those who are getting religious education peacefully.” Upper Dir’s lashkar is the most dramatic illustration of the public backlash against the Taleban that has accompanied the army’s attack on the militants in the northwestern region of Swat since late April.

Dhimmitude in America

It seems that the worrying phenomenon of placating Islam and Muslims at all costs has spread across the Atlantic.

An organization in the national spotlight recently for producing a documentary identifying several dozen potential terrorist training compounds in the U.S. has offended the sensibilities of Maine bureaucrats, who have fined the organization $4,000, alleging among other things that the group sent out mailings containing an “inflammatory anti-Muslim message.”

The group in question, the Christian Action Network (CAN), received notice of the fines and the fundraising ban in a May 6 letter from Elaine Thibodeau of the State of Maine’s Department of Professional and Financial Regulation. Enclosed in the letter was a prepared consent agreement for CAN to sign agreeing to all of the state’s allegations, waiving all rights to appeal, and agreeing to pay the $4,000 fine. As part of the consent agreement, CAN is required to agree to all of the state’s allegations, including their assertion that their mailing amounted to hate speech.

“These bogus charges and fines the State of Maine has imposed are nothing but an attempt to stifle our free speech and silence our organization from speaking out about the steady creep of radical Islam in America,” CAN president Martin Mawyer told Pajamas Media. “We fully intend to appeal the state’s penalties because if they successfully silence us here, we will quickly find that we won’t be able to speak out anywhere.”

CAN was in the news earlier this year following the release of their documentary, Homegrown Jihad, which details dozens of compounds across the U.S. operated by Pakistani Sheikh Mubarak Gilani, who has previously been identified in State Department reports as a terrorist leader, and his group, Jamaat al-Fuqra. The documentary looks into the past terrorist acts of the group in the U.S., including the assassination of two moderate Muslim leaders, the firebombing of non-Muslim religious facilities, and an investigation by Colorado authorities that led to convictions and lengthy prison sentences. These activities have been covered in several FBI domestic terrorism reports and a more recent assessment by the Center for Policing Terrorism. Other prominent convicted terrorists, including “shoe-bomber” Richard Reid, D.C. Beltway sniper John Allen Muhammad, and NYC landmarks bomb plotter Clement Rodney Hampton-El, have been identified as former members.

Islamic terrorist activity is not a new thing in the United States, but it seems that recently there have been a plethora of foiled plots - not to mention some which have tragically been executed, most notable the murder of Private William Long in Arkansas.

Frankly, the authorities should be looking into the details of these camps and their funding - not persecuting those who do.

But then, many Americans seem to be coming to all the wrong conclusions about Islam and its intentions - less than a decade after 9/11, New York schools will celebrate Muslim religious holidays:

The New York chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NY) today joined a coalition of community organizations in welcoming the passage of a resolution by a committee of the city council that calls for adding Muslim holidays to the school calendar.

Resolution 1281, passed overwhelmingly by the New York City Council Education Committee, calls on the "New York City Department of Education to incorporate the Muslim holidays of Eid Ul-Fitr and Eid Ul-Adha as observed school holidays in the school calendar for the city school district of the city of New York" and also asks that the state legislature "pass, and the Governor to sign into law, A.8108/S.5837, an Act to amend the education law, in relation to requiring that Eid Ul-Fitr and Eid Ul-Adha be school holidays in the city school district of the city of New York."

The Coalition for Muslim School Holidays - a broad interfaith, inter-ethnic coalition of labor, community, civil rights, and religious organizations - also urged the entire city council to support including Muslim holidays in the school calendar.

"Today marks a positive step forward in the effort to provide a more inclusive educational environment for all students," said CAIR-NY Community Affairs Director Faiza N. Ali, who sits on the steering committee of the Coalition for Muslim School Holidays. "This resolution advances religious liberty, recognizes the growing Muslim population in New York and promotes our great city's values of diversity and inclusion."

She noted that the New York City area is home to some 1 million Muslims, one of the fastest growing and most diverse religious populations in the city. More than 90 percent of Muslim students attend public schools and one in eight public school students is Muslim.

CAIR offers a booklet, called "An Educator's Guide to Islamic Religious Practices," designed to promote diversity and accommodate Muslim students in educational institutions.

With demographic changes like that underway, it won't be very long before America really does have to adopt every means possible to placate the Muslims in its midst.

Richard Reid's Father on 'Obama the Merciful'

Richard Reid is a British-born Muslim convert currently serving life in a U.S. jail after trying to blow up a transatlantic jet with explosives hidden in his shoes.

His father has released a letter to the British press in which his son brands Obama as no better than Bush, insisting that the only difference between the two men is the fact that Bush 'was more open in his enmity towards Islam'.

Of course. I quite clearly remember Bush taking the opportunity of all eyes being upon him after 9/11 to declare that Islam, the religion in whose name 3,000 of his own citizens were slaughtered on their own soil, was 'a religion of peace, love and tolerance'.

Harsh words indeed.

Reid's father sounds almost as crazy as his son:

Robin, 59, who lives near Southampton, said: "They've censored part of the letter where he tells me the reason he is on hunger strike.

"But I know from earlier letters that all he ever does is study Islam - so he must be protesting about something to do with that.

"It must be because they are stopping him getting the materials like books he needs which is infringing his human rights."

He added: "I don't want my son to die. Islam is all he cares about, not himself.

"Personally, I don't agree with his view of Obama and I think he is a breath of fresh air after Bush. But he is right that we should be wary of any new president.

"I'm writing to tell him that he should have more faith in Obama, though. I haven't been allowed to visit all my son in jail and maybe my only hope of ever seeing him again is if someone merciful like Obama realises he's that just an idealist who never really wanted to kill anyone."

He said released the photo "so Richard does not get forgotten about and people hear what he has to say".

Mr Reid insisted: "I believe he deliberately made a hash of it on that plane and tried to get caught before he hurt anyone. If he had been serious, he'd have gone to the toilets to set off his bomb.

"He was convinced of his cause and sure that American policy under Bush was wrong - and he tried to make a dramatic statement. But I will never believe he was serious about killing anyone."

Reid has made it quite clear that his Islamic faith is fuelled by hatred and murderous intent, ranting about Bush against all facts and logic when Islamic hatred of America and the entire non-Muslim world is rooted deep.

Why should the prison authorities not prevent his studies on that basis?

To call a man who wanted to kill as many innocents as possible 'an idealist' is simply an insult.

What interests me is the fact that Robin Reid seems to think that Obama might somehow have some empathy with his son - where could he have got an idea like that?

As much as I dislike Obama and disagree with pretty much all he has said and done to date, I'm not sure even he would be brave enough to publicly show solidarity with Reid or his sordid cause.

Pakistan: U.K. Must Do More to Combat Militant Islam

There is so much wrong with this story that it is hard to know where to begin:

Pakistan's President Asif Ali Zardari said on Tuesday Britain has to tackle its own issues of deprivation to stop the radicalisation of British Muslims.

In an interview with ITV's "News at Ten", he rejected the suggestion it was Pakistan's role to win the hearts and minds of radicalised British Muslims, although he said his country would arrest any radical Briton visiting Pakistan and send them back to the UK.

"The appeal has to be on the other side," he was due to say in the programme to be aired on Tuesday evening.

"I think Britain has to take the responsibility and make sure that they do not feel the deprivation they have been. Because we all know this is a state of mind that comes up from some kind of this.

"And one has to fight it in Britain and not in Pakistan."

British security services say there have been Pakistani links to almost all of the dozen major terrorism plots foiled since 2001, including the London bombings in 2005.

Sky News, citing unnamed sources, earlier this year said Pakistan's intelligence service had identified more than 20 Britons who had been trained by militants in Pakistan and had returned to Britain, where they posed a security threat.

In the interview, Zardari denied any knowledge of militant training camps in Pakistan and said it was an "old thought" among British intelligence that thousands of radicals were arriving in Britain.

"I don't think there are any known camps that you know of or we know of or British intelligence know of that exist," he said.

"Of course they exist underground -- the mafia exists underground in Britain -- and wherever we find it we crush it ... but I don't think there is a particular place which we know of that still exists."

The president also rejected British Prime Minister Gordon Brown's description of the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan as the "crucible for global terrorism".

"I think sometimes people say things they don't understand or mean but I think his concern is genuine and I appreciate the concern," Zardari said.

The question must be asked - if Britain is as bad as Zardari says, then why do so many Pakistanis come and wish to come?

Why would they object if we curtailed their travel to this country?

The idea that we owe even more to what has grown into a large, bellicose group of colonists than we have already given them simply beggars belief.

As an immigrant group, I personally feel that the Pakistani minority in this country hasn't really worked out. There are huge and pressing issues everywhere one finds a large Pakistani community.

Yet, according to Zardari, that is because we don't give them enough, we're not understanding enough - all the usual reasons.

Wll, if that's the case, why have student visa applications from Saudi Arabia jumped by 40%?

Saudi students reportedly prefer studying in the UK because Muslims believe they will be treated without bias.

Seeing as student visas area major loophole in our border controls someone should be looking into these figures, but it does demolish many of Zardari's preconceptions.

I'll leave you with the following story - and you can decide if Britain is a bastian of Victorian intolerance or a nation bent on its own destruction and submission in the name of diversity and social engineering:

A MULTI-MILLION pound Islamic garden for High Wycombe could be a “Europe wide phenomenon” one of its backers has said.

Clare Martens said the planned garden would be a “tourist attraction” and hopefully bring Muslim and non-Muslim communities together.

Addressing community leaders today she said: “It will be an enormous boost to quality of life in the town.”

Yet she said it was unlikely public money would be available to finance the garden, for which no location has been earmarked.

Volunteers want to raise £1m to buy land and employ an architect and designer through donations.

The former Labour councillor said: “It is going to cost a lot of money.”

Adding the “time is right” for the development she said: “The likelehood of it being donated by a public body is unlikely but obviously it is a possibility.”

Fellow backer Mohammed Rafiq, a Labour member of Wycombe District Council, said the garden would be for everyone.

He said: “People think it is really for the Muslim community. I think that is far from it.

“It is something to be enjoyed by everyone.”

The garden would “break down barriers in an enjoyable and soothing way”.

Wycombe MP Paul Goodman, a shadow minister responsible for community cohesion, said the garden could resemble the garden of Andalucia in Spain, where Jews, Muslims and Christians mix.

Any scheme would need planning permission from the district council.

They were speaking at a seminar organised by the Council for Christian and Muslim Relations for High Wycombe at Bucks New University today.

Number of Calais Illegals Triples in 5 Years

Several interesting stories today about the illegal immigrants trying to get into Britain, and those already here.

Firstly, it has been reported that whilst in 2004 border officials detected 7,540 stowaways, last year, the total was 19,399.

The rise is attributed in part to the illegal camps in the woods around Calais, which the French authorities seem to generally tolerate. Their only solution is that Britain might just like to join Schengen and let all of these individuals in.

If more than 50 illegals a day are being caught trying to sneak into Britain, it does rather beg the question of how many actually succeed.

We don't really know how many succeed in arriving here - but we do have a fair idea of what happens when they do - they stay, generally even if ordered to leave.

A £1million Government scheme to help failed asylum seekers and their children return home resulted in just one family leaving the UK, it has been revealed.

A scathing report from the Children's Society says the initiative, which ran for less than a year, failed because government officials did not seem to know what it was for or how to run it.

The project in Kent was an attempt to reduce the numbers of children being locked up in immigration removal centres after their parents' asylum claims failed.

Families waiting to be returned to their home countries would not be locked up but instead would stay at an open residential unit while their children went to school.

A centre run by the charity Migrant Helpline was supposed to process 260 families in a year but in reality it dealt with only 13, only one of which was returned to its native country.

'They were given initially seven days to sell all their possessions, take the decision to leave their homes, take their children out of school and move to a centre that they knew very little about,' she said.

'They arrived in a very confused state, unable to engage with the charity that was running the pilot. Many of these families couldn't even go home, because they had outstanding asylum claims and so couldn't be removed from the country legally.'

Keith Vaz, someone who definitely knows a thing or two about getting a British passport, admitted the scheme was a flop, but for different reasons:

'There were good intentions, but the intervention happened too late. After you have been sat waiting for your case to be dealt with in a very long queue over a number of years, the last thing you want to do, the last thing you want to happen, is for someone to help you to leave.

'The real problem we have in dealing with these cases is the huge backlog that is still with us. It has gone down in the last 12 years, but it is still there.'

Yes - and with the number attempting to arrive increasing threefold, it is not going away any time soon, a bit like the nonsensical idea that it can be 'illegal' for the British government to remove non-citizens from this country if it so wishes.

Who knows who is sneaking over the border? Take this case - an Afghan warlord who had fought for a banned group against British troops entered this country illegally in 2006 and has lived off us since.

Finally, he has had his appeal turned down and been ordered to leave:

An Afghan asylum seeker in Glasgow who fought against Nato-led forces in his homeland has lost his appeal against deportation from the UK.

Dawalat Khan Nasir, 34, was a former commander with the banned Islamist group Herzb-e-Islami Gulbuddin (Hig).

He entered the UK illegally in 2006 and claimed asylum on the grounds he was at risk of persecution in Afghanistan.

Judges at the Court of Session said his past meant he could not be shielded by human rights legislation.

The court heard that Nasir took part in attacks against the Nato-led mission in Afghanistan.

He took over his father's role as commander in Hig - a mujahideen group founded by former Afghan prime minister Gulbuddin Hekmatyar - when he was killed as the Americans moved in to overthrow the Taliban.

Nasir used Hig money to fund his departure from Afghanistan and fled by plane and lorry before entering Britain illegally in July 2006.

He made an application for asylum claiming that since childhood he had been involved with Hig - a proscribed terrorist organisation in the UK.

In October last year, Nasir, who has been living at a flat in Glasgow, was told by the Home Office that his asylum application had been rejected.

He challenged the decision but his case was rejected by a senior immigration judge.

His case came before the Court of Session in Edinburgh on Tuesday, which upheld the decision to deport him.

Nasir had claimed there was insufficient evidence of his participation in Hig acts which were contrary to the purposes and principles of the United Nations and that he should be afforded protection under human rights legislation and the Geneva Convention.

But Lord Hardie, who heard the case with Lord Reed and Lord Carloway, concluded that he was aware of Hig activities and aims and was excluded from the convention's protection.

Lord Hardie said: "At the time of his father's death the applicant was actively participating in the acts of Hig, including attacks against the International Security Assistance Force.

"He must have been aware at that time of the aims, methods and activities of Hig.

"Thereafter he became a commander in Hig and was involved in the planning of acts, including issuing orders to obtain guns.

"As a result of his involvement with Hig the applicant is excluded from the protection of the Geneva Convention."

Yeah - and the best thing is, all of that was on the British taxpayer. If Hitler had turned up here in May 1945 and claimed asylum, would it have taken three years of legal wrangling at our expense to decide we didn't want him?

If the answer to that question is obvious, or the question itself even seems absurd, then isn't that an answer in itself?

The case of this warlord proves that the protection and integrity of our borders is vital to our safety. This is obvious to most people, but obviously some are shielded from reality by their expenses claims.

I really don't see the point in young British men and women dying in Afghanistan whilst their former opponents sit in Scottish council flats.

American Teacher Killed in Mauritania

An American citizen was shot and killed in the Mauritanian capital after resisting a suspected al-Qaeda kidnap attempt:

GUNMEN have shot dead an American in the capital of Mauritania, where the slaying of foreigners by suspected al-Qaeda militants in 2007 has already heightened fears of extremism across West Africa.

The man was shot several times in the head from close range today after he resisted an apparent kidnap attempt, a witness said.

Al-Qaeda militants were blamed for the killing of four French tourists in Mauritania on December 24, 2007 that heightened concerns about extremist attacks.

A gun attack on the Israeli embassy on February 1, 2008 left three people wounded and was claimed by an al-Qaeda offshoot.

Today's shooting happened about 8.30am local time outside a private language and computer school run by the American in the capital Nouakchott, situated opposite a mosque.

"A foreigner has been shot dead, apparently by youths who fled. We are investigating the case," a police source said, adding that the victim was an American and that US embassy officials were quickly on the scene.

According to a resident who witnessed the incident, the man apparently tried to resist being bundled into a black Toyota car by a group of youths.

"When they failed to get him into the car, the youths killed him," the witness said by telephone.

Top security officials, the governor of Nouakchott and the state prosecutor visited the scene, where the body lay for several hours after the shooting.

Another witness said bystanders went to the man's aid thinking it was a fistfight when the attackers pointed their guns at them.

"The American put up very strong resistance, forcing one of his attackers to the ground, who shot him in the head. He fired three times," said the witness.

The caretaker of a nearby building said the attackers were "young, fair-skinned, Mauritanians wearing little beards, who had been waiting for the American since dawn".

She said that the attackers "were talking among each other and appeared very agitated" as they waited for their victim.

The US national, who has not been named, was resident in Nouakchott for several years and spoke the local Arab dialect well, locals in the central Ksar district said.

One police officer, speaking on condition of anonymity, said it was disturbing that the gunmen, operating on a busy street in broad daylight, had made no attempt to hide their identity.

"That's worrying and shows that a certain industry of terrorist crime has taken root in our country," he said.

Policeman Told He 'Looked Like Osama bin Laden' Sues

Pc Tariq Dost has taken West Midlands Police and the police authority to a tribunal for racial and religious discrimination and victimisation following the remarks made to him from 2007.

Pc Dost, from Small Heath, Birmingham was working as a recruitment officer for the force when his manager Darren Yates is alleged to have made several discriminatory comments to him based on his race, beliefs and religion.

The tribunal heard how Mr Yates made remarks about the length of his beard on several occasions and also questioned why he tucked his trousers into his boots.

Giving evidence, Pc Dost said: "I believe he felt uncomfortable with me because of my appearance. I found them (his comments) to be discriminatory and ignorant and embarrassing."

Pc Dost, 42, also claimed Mr Yates referred to Muslim prayer as "shouting and wailing" when he asked to go to afternoon prayer while at a recruitment fair at Birmingham's NEC.

Mr Yates is alleged to have laughed at him as he turned up to the fair in Islamic clothing and robes as he was off duty.

"I found it to be highly offensive and demeaning and discriminatory towards myself and Muslims as a whole," Pc Dost said. "His actions were racist and Islamaphobic."

Giving evidence, Pc Dost told the tribunal how Mr Yates, who runs the recruitment office at the force HQ in Birmingham, pointed at him when looking at a picture of terrorist Osama Bin Laden in a newspaper.

Pc Dost complained to his superiors about the incidents and Mr Yates was later disciplined and found guilty of making inappropriate and offensive comments. He was given a final written warning for his conduct.

Pc Dost also had disciplinary proceedings brought against him for making comments about Mr Yates' sexual performance. He denied the claims and said they were 'preposterous'.

He was found guilty by a disciplinary panel and fined 13 days pay amounting to nearly £3,000.

Pc Dost claimed he was treated differently to his boss during the investigation because his is not 'white' or a 'Christian' and argued that a pay deduction was a heftier penalty than being given a final written warning.

"The manner in which I have been treated by Darren Yates has shocked me," he said. "It has left me feeling devalued. I have lost a lot of trust because of his behaviour. It has caused me tremendous hurt and pain and left me feeling very angry and resentful to those involved.

"I feel that I have been betrayed by the force. Instead of treating me as a victim they have treated me as an offender. They have discriminated against me for no other reason than that I am an Asian and a Muslim. I am ashamed to be associated with West Midlands Police."

Pc Dost claimed he was moved from his position to Solihull Police Station in 2008 as a result of the investigation where as Mr Yates was reinstated in his original position with all his responsibilities.

"I feel this this was my employer victimising me as I had made a claim. Instead of supporting me they have gone on a mission to discredit me and safeguard their own position."

Barristers Hurt in Courtroom Acid Attack

One of the short snippets from Court News I posted yesterday has been picked up by the Daily Mail.

It is a relatively unusual case; an Indian man who had his appeal over a race discrimination claim dismissed threw hydrochloric acid at his legal team, leaving them with minor injuries. As he was restrained, he shouted: 'I was trying to blind them, they're all Nazis'.

A furious litigant hurled hydrochloric acid over three lawyers after a High Court ruling went against him, a jury heard today.

Unemployed Ashok Mahajan went berserk inside Court 11 of the Royal Courts of Justice as appeal judge Mr Justice Underhill delivered the unfavourable ruling against his race discrimination claim.

He threw a bottle of the highly corrosive liquid over barrister Richard Liddell, solicitor Claire White and trainee barrister Lucy Colter.

Miss Colter screamed in pain when she was hit in the eye and acid that landed on her leg burned through her tights, Southwark Crown Court heard.

Fumes filled the court, leaving staff struggling for breath and forcing the judge to flee, the jury heard.

In a tape recording of the incident, 54-year-old Mahajan can be heard hurling abuse at the lawyers after the ruling, calling them 'f****** hire dogs' and ranting 'there's no f****** justice in this stinking court'.

Describing her ordeal, pupil barrister Lucy Colter told police he sprayed the acid at them 'quite few times to make sure he got us'.

'The liquid rained around us and was all up my right leg and over my right arm.'

Philip Bennetts, prosecuting, told jurors: 'It also went in her mouth and right eye. Her worst injuries were to her eye.

'She suffered a mild corrosive burn to her eye. She also had two burns to her left and right thighs, the acid burning her tights.

'Fortunately she received immediate first aid treatment at court and subsequent treatment has resulted in no permanent damage.'

He said security staff were quickly on the scene and Mahajan was detained.

When Mahajan was asked what he was trying to do, he allegedly replied: 'I was trying to blind them... they're all Nazis.'

Palestinian Serial Rapist Jailed in Leicester

A Palestinian asylum seeker who preyed on prostitutes in Leicester has been jailed for nine years.

When caught and questioned about the attacks, he told police he took the view that 'there are different categories of women':

A rapist who carried out terrifying sex attacks on prostitutes has been told he must serve at least nine years in jail.

Abdal Ahmed Adres (32), a Palestinian asylum-seeker, carried out the attacks on three women who he picked up on the streets of Leicester.

One told the Mercury she feared for her life after he drove her to a house, then trapped her inside. She said he forced her to strip and threatened to bring other men into the room.

She said: "I let him do what he wanted because I wanted to stay alive and I thought he was going to kill me.

"He deserves everything he gets. He's definitely dangerous. I'm happy with the sentence.''

She reported him to the police after recognising him in Leicester city centre a year later.

At Leicester Crown Court yesterday, Judge Michael Pert QC told Adres he was jailing him for the public's protection, for a "campaign of rape" on vulnerable women.

Afterwards, the 32-year-old victim said Adres, who she said was 'off his head on drugs', lured her to a house off the Narborough Road, locked her in and raped her. She said: "He hasn't ruined my life, but I haven't worked as a prostitute since.

"I didn't report the attack until a year later, when I saw him in the city centre and recognised him. By then I knew he'd done the same to others."

She praised the judge and the New Futures Project, which helps women who work as prostitutes, and stood by her throughout the case.

Adres was convicted by a jury of twice raping her and attempting to rape her. He was also found guilty of raping two other prostitutes, aged 24 and 29.

Adres, of no fixed address, whose Polish wife was in court to support him, denied committing the offences between 2007 and 2008.

The court heard he picked up the victims in Kent Street, Highfields, while driving a green sports car. The 29-year-old was taken to a house in the city, where he punched her in the face and threatened to kill her. He forced her to strip before raping her.

The 24-year-old victim was driven to an alley near Leicester's Abbey Park, and attacked from behind. He put his hand over her mouth and threatened to hurt her if she did not keep quiet. She was slapped, punched, then raped.

Another prostitute was so concerned about his behaviour she took his registration number, which led to his arrest. All three victims picked him out in a video identification procedure.

Judge Pert QC told him: "You carried out a campaign of rape on vulnerable people."

He said it would be nine years before a parole board could even consider if Adres was safe enough to be released on a life licence. He also recommended deportation on his release.

Adres' defence barrister, Mary Prior, said they had been violent, traumatic attacks, but added: "He takes the view there are different categories of women, although that doesn't apply in this country, nor should it."

New Futures director Della Cavner said: "He is going to be in prison for a long time and at least for now the women are safe from him. We're very proud of the women for standing up."

A few points; all well and good that the judge is jailing him for the protection of the public, but why was he not kept out of Britain or deported on the same basis?

Secondly, if the defence barrister accepts that this criminal's views on women are irrelevant in this country, why bring them up? I'd be more inclined to be harsh on him after hearing such drivel.

Finally, in which distant galaxy does nine years for a very dangerous rapist who preyed on three different women (i.e. three years for each offence) constitute 'going to prison for a long time'?
